The American Road, Ford Quadricycle -1953 Part 1/4
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.12 лет назад
The American Road is a short film produced from archival footage as well as modern reenactments. At times melodramatic, especially in the reenactments, this film presents an interesting look at the evolution of the automobile and the road. Part 1: Leaving the farm behind, life in the city, and the Quadricycle.
1956 Ford Victoria Television Commercial
Просмотров 5 тыс.12 лет назад
This short television advertisement was presented before the regular showing of the Ford Theatre program and features a 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. Master-Guide power steering is the main focus of this advertisement although the big news in '56 was the adoption of the 12 volt electrical system across the Ford line. Lifeguard safety features were also briefly mentioned but never materialized as...
Trader Thorne, Ford Motor Company - 1949/50 Part 2/2
Просмотров 2,2 тыс.12 лет назад
Trader Thorne is a training film produced by Ford Motor Company for new salesman which explains approved techniques for selling new cars. Hugh Beaumont, perhaps best known as Ward Cleaver from the television show Leave it to Beaver, stars as the titular Joe "Trader" Thorne. While this film provides no year of production in the credits, my best guess based on the cars spotted throughout the film...

1953 Ford F-100 Truck Marine Testing
Просмотров 3,7 тыс.12 лет назад
1953 saw the 50th anniversary of Ford Motor Company and newly redesigned models across the Ford line of passenger cars and trucks. Trucks were given new model designations dropping the previously used F-1 in favor of the now familiar F-100 badge. This was also to be the last year for the venerable flathead V8 which was replaced by the "Y" block engines in the 1954 model year. In this film we se...
Your Safety First (1956) Animated Automotive History
Просмотров 19 тыс.12 лет назад
Created by the Automobile Manufacturers of America, this short film explores a brief history of the automobile. Special attention is paid to the advances in safety features in the first half of the 20th century. Set in the (then) distant future of the year 2000, Your Safety First offers a distinctly Jetsonesque vision of transportation. Oddly enough, this film was produced before the Jetsons bu...

1948 saw the last year of production Continentals until a reintroduction of the line in 1956. This short film presents the story of the 1956 Continental from concept to final production. It is interesting to note that the 1956-1957 Continentals were amongst the most expensive production cars of the day. In 1956 a new Continental would cost $10,000 or more. Compared to a standard Ford car which ...

All this was accomplished by way of three drive motors driving four lift jacks, four door lock motors, ten solenoids, four locking mechanisms for the roof, and 610 feet of wiring. Production run lasted only thre...

Great cartoon, but. not her best portrayal. Usually, Betty is a strong, independent gal, but in this, at 'Betty Boop's Auto hospital' She pretty much wanders around filling out forms and such, while others do all the work.

My dad worked for GM 42 years and was a die hard fan. Wouldn’t drive anything but GM. However he always said in the 40s 50s 60s that FORD made the better automobile. Overall quality was just better. It must be true for him to have admitted that 😂
